The Lord is good to those who wait

In everything be hopeful!  God wants us to expect good things from Him because He is good.  As you wait expectantly, actively pursue Him.  In your worry, don’t stop seeking Him or connecting with Him.  Look forward to your breakthrough, being joyfully confident that your answer is on the way.  May we wake up with an attitude of gratitude for what we have and for what may come.

-"The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him” - Lamentations 3:25

Lift up your prayers for Charleston

Last night's incident was beyond tragic.  Evil hit Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church and hearts are in great sorrow and grief.  I am reminded of Hebrews 13:3 "Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering."  So let us pray!  As these victims sat in church receiving a Bible Study they never imagined this horrific incident was about to take place.  Later they sat for an hour as evil threatened to hurt them.  But the end of the story is this, "Instead, they were longing for a better country - a heavenly one.  Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them." (Hebrews 11:16).  Let me rephrase that, the beginning of their story begins now in eternity because "the world was not worthy of them." (Hebrews 11:37)  Praise Jesus!

Encourage one another "today"

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. - Hebrews 3:13

It's so easy to get stuck in a rut or fall and not want to get back up.  I'm sure you've experienced this through stress, disappointments, hopelessness, maybe sin or feeling far from God, you can fill in the blank.  God knew we would struggle and that is why He spoke to us in this very verse… "encourage one another daily."  Because our struggles are daily He sent us His Word to lift us up that we may follow Him even in the difficult times.  The truth is, as we encourage others, we will be encouraged as well.

So let’s take "today" and check in with a friend or family member.  Share Scripture as the Holy Spirit leads you.  Share your encouragement via email, text, phone call or a visit.  Let’s be intentional about this.  Why? … “so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness."  A few weekends ago I felt tired and defeated.  I became sick and by the end of the week felt weak and totally unmotivated.  But devotionals I received from my sweet younger sister kept me going.  The following week I found a whole new mission, goal and purpose as I prepared for my prayer groups.  So God has commanded us to take action, so let's get started!

Have a blessed day as you encourage someone "today"!

Jim Caviezel on the filming of Passion of the Christ

I pray that we would all enter Holy Week this year devastated by His work on the cross - that the object of our faith, Jesus Christ, would reveal Himself to us in all His glory and splendor.  Soak in the reality of the cross this week and the once-for-all sacrificial death for our sins.  There is no greater love than this!  "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." - John 15:13

Enjoy this amazing message from Jim Caviezel as he shares what God did in his life while filming the Passion of the Christ.
