Everyone has a story to tell. When we make the connection between our story and God's great story, we come away with HIStory, which involves each and every one of us.

God hears you!

In my quiet time this morning I was inspired by what The Lord placed in my heart to share with you.  My prayer is that it will bless you on this day.
In Habakkuk we see a man, who like us, is frustrated and feels that The lord is not hearing him, he is not answering him.  In his plea to The Lord he says (Habakkuk 1:2-3):
2 How long, Lord, must I call for help,
    but you do not listen?
Or cry out to you, “Violence!”
    but you do not save?
3 Why do you make me look at injustice?
    Why do you tolerate wrongdoing?
Destruction and violence are before me;
there is strife, and conflict abounds.
Have you ever felt this way in your journey?  I know I have.  In fact, I'm going through a period of silence right now.  This is an area where God has been working in my life and let me tell you, He is showing me and speaking to me in ways I have never seen before.  God responds to Habakkuk in verse 5:
5“Look at the nations and watch--
    and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
    that you would not believe,
    even if you were told.
God is responding to you and me today in the same way.  He is near and He wants us to open our eyes and see all that He is doing in our lives.  I can get so caught up in getting an answer from Him that I  miss out on seeing all that He is saying and all that He is doing.
My daughters are
both in school now (1st and 2nd grade) so as my husband and I had always planned, I would go back to work.  I am praying that He show me where He wants me - that He open the doors where He wants me and close them where He doesn't want me.  It's a good prayer, right?  I mean there's nothing wrong with my request.  Except, I'm learning that I have been way too caught up with hearing an answer that I've neglected to see that He IS opening the doors for me.  He is speaking  to me and He is orchestrating the most amazing plan for my life.  This blog is one of those doors He has opened up for me.  He wants to use me in encouraging others to pray and draw closer to Him.  If we can stop focusing on what He isn't doing or saying, we will see that He is working! Romans 8:28 says:
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
In her book "Discerning the Voice of God" Priscilla Shirer states:
"And if we will keep our eyes open in full anticipation, we will find that even situations in which He appears to be indifferent are actually filled with God's handiwork, insight, and instruction for us."

So today, let's propose to pray in faith, anticipate in hope and listen in obedience.  Our sovereign Lord is never asleep and His love for us is greater than we can imagine.  He longs to draw closer to us so we can live out His will and plan for our lives.
In Him,
Damaris Avila
